Porto Augusto's LBV 2020
Vineyard
Vineyard plots situated on the steep slopes of the Pinhão River, at an altitude ranging from 150 m to 400 m, with poor, rugged schist soil; low-yielding, yet producing grapes of high concentration and quality.
Harvest 2020
The winter was dry, followed by a cold and rainy spring. The summer saw mild temperatures, with the exception of August. The harvest began two weeks later than usual, due to the late flowering of the vines. The red wines turned out concentrated, with high acidity and ripe tannins, and a pronounced aromatic expression.
Winemaking
Fresh grapes at their ideal point of ripeness, hand-picked into 20-kg crates. After destemming and gentle crushing, the grapes were placed in stainless steel vats, where they fermented for five days, followed by post-fermentation maceration for another three days. This resulted in a wine of excellent extract, which aged in old French oak barrels for 4 years.
