Vintage 2017

The year was extremely dry, atypical of drought as there is no memory in the Douro. As a result of the climatic conditions, we verified a precocity of all phases of the vegetative cycle, with the broiling and flowering running without problems, and the painter starting in the first days of July. The continuation of the very hot weather remained during the maturation period, thus causing a rapid ripening of the grapes, which led to the beginning of the harvest in the last days of August. It was a good year, with the wines having a more intense color and a higher alcohol degree, but with a very balanced acidity. Managing to maintain freshness and elegance,

Fresh grapes harvested by hand, in boxes of 20 kg, are quickly transported to the cellar where they are desengadas, crushed and placed in a vat where they make a slight pelicular macerated being then, slightly pressed. Two thirds of fermentation occurred in Stainless Steel at controlled temperature of 12 - 14°C for 2 weeks and the last third in French oak barrels. After fermentation, the wine aged on the lees, with weekly battônage, for 9 months, in order to maintain its freshness and gain complexity.
